Sonett av Tage Danielsson. So now we're looking at a poem by a Swedish poet by the name of Tage Danielsson. And this is a poem where he's sort of making fun of his own occupation, where he's making light of being a poet. And so, even though it's obviously very difficult to capture the the linguistic beauty of a poem, I think we can try to capture some of the meaning and you'll see the flow of this particular poem, which is, as the title says, a sonnet.
"För mig är poesi en sinnesfröjd, ett rymdskepp några galningar bemannat och för att göra natten till en grann natt sänt upp som stjärnebloss i himlens höjd.
So he's saying, "For me, poetry is a delight." Poesi: poetry. En sinnesfröjd: a delight.
The video plays beside a transcript that follows it line by line. Swedish words are underlined; tap one and the video pauses, the meaning appears, and the word goes into your library. At the end there is a five-question quiz written from this exact lesson, and every word can be practised out loud.
