- 1Get registered
You need to live in Tidaholm, which for most people means being registered with Skatteverket (folkbokförd) with a personnummer. You also need to be at least 16 and lack basic Swedish. EU citizens can sometimes start before they are registered.

Ask whether there are evening or distance options if you work. Since 1 January 2026 the right to SFI lasts three years from the day you are admitted, so plan to study steadily.
