Träffa versus möta: two ways to meet in Swedish
What the lesson covers
The lesson explains two Swedish verbs for “to meet”: att träffa which is more common and informal, and att möta which is more formal. For “a meeting,” the informal en träff and the formal ett möte are used, with möte preferred in professional or office settings.
The lesson also describes reciprocal S-forms. Adding -s to verbs like träffa → träffas, möta → möts, and se → ses builds in the idea of “each other,” so vi träffas means “we meet each other.” These forms are used when the action is done jointly by more than one person.

How the lesson starts
The opening of the lesson transcript. The rest is in the course, synced to the video.
We've talked about meetings, of course, in the past, and we said there are two words that we can use to talk about meeting each other. We have the words att träffa or att möta. And you can really choose which one to use, although träffa is more common. Möta is maybe a bit more formal, I would say, but both basically describe the same action, meeting.
How would you say "I want to meet you tomorrow"? Jag vill träffa dig i morgon.
Okay. So, how would you say "We have a meeting tomorrow"?
And meeting is, of course, either möte or träff. So, let's start out with the first one, träff. So not träffa, but just träff, without the A, that means a meeting.
So how would you say "We have a meeting tomorrow"?
The video plays beside a transcript that follows it line by line. Swedish words are underlined; tap one and the video pauses, the meaning appears, and the word goes into your library. At the end there is a five-question quiz written from this exact lesson, and every word can be practised out loud.
