Swedish vocabulary for household objects
What the lesson covers
This lesson focused on describing common household objects in Swedish, highlighting the many similarities these words share with their English equivalents, such as "radio," "soffa" (sofa), "lampa" (lamp), "TV," "laptop," "dator" (computer), "rum" (room), and "hus" (house). It then introduced the verb "ligger," meaning "to lie" or "is located," demonstrating its use in various example sentences. Students practiced constructing phrases and sentences by combining this vocabulary to describe locations, possessions, and actions, such as "My brother is lying on a sofa" or "I am watching Youtube on my laptop, in my room."

How the lesson starts
The opening of the lesson transcript. The rest is in the course, synced to the video.
So we're going to start today by describing some common household objects that you might find in your house. And like always we're going to try to see if we can find similarities between English and Swedish. And luckily, or to our benefit, there are many such similarities. Like the ones you see here: the radio which is radio, soffa, lampa. These are of course very similar in English and we can try to use this to our benefit.
So for example en soffa, that would be a sofa. En lampa, en lampa is of course a lamp. TV is TV as well. How do you pronounce that?
Tv, tv. En laptop.
Dator would be computer, dator. The laptop you could say laptop.
The video plays beside a transcript that follows it line by line. Swedish words are underlined; tap one and the video pauses, the meaning appears, and the word goes into your library. At the end there is a five-question quiz written from this exact lesson, and every word can be practised out loud.
