Terms of service

1. Who we are

Lingolib is an online Swedish course and learning app run by Adam (“Lingolib”, “we”). You can reach us at adam@lingolib.com. By creating an account or buying anything on lingolib.com you agree to these terms.

2. Your account

  • You need to be at least 16, or have a parent or guardian's consent.
  • Keep your password to yourself. You are responsible for what happens under your account.
  • One account per person. Accounts are personal and cannot be shared or resold.

Usage analytics for your account

When you create an account you agree that we record how you use Lingolib while you are signed in (for example which lessons you open, which features you use and what you buy) and link it to your account (your name, email address and plan). We do this to run and improve the product and to help you if something goes wrong. It applies to your account whatever you chose earlier in the cookie settings, which only cover visitors who are not signed in. The analytics run on our own server and are never sold or used for advertising. You can object at any time by emailing adam@lingolib.com, and deleting your account removes it. Details are in our Privacy Policy.

3. The membership

The membership is a yearly subscription. It gives you every course, the AI features (tutor, speaking practice, natural-voice playback, dubbing) and Watch for any video. You pay for the first year at checkout. The membership then renews automatically each year at the price you paid until you cancel, which you can do at any time from Settings. We email you before each renewal.

Cancelling stops future renewals. You keep the membership until the end of the year already paid, and then your account returns to the free plan; you keep the words in your library.

The founding price applies to the first 1,000 memberships sold, and a founding membership keeps renewing at the founding price for as long as it runs. If it ends and you join again later, the price shown at that time applies. The price you pay is the one shown at checkout.

AI features are subject to fair-use limits shown on the pricing page (daily for most features, monthly for dubbing). We may adjust these limits to keep the service sustainable, and we will tell you if we do.

Free trial. A new account gets seven days of the membership tools, with lower limits, once it confirms its email address. It is free, needs no card and ends on its own; nothing is charged afterwards. It does not include the paid course lessons. One trial per person and email address; we may withhold or end a trial that is being misused.

Payments are processed by Stripe, which sends your receipt. Prices are shown in US dollars and include VAT.

4. Refunds and your right of withdrawal

The membership comes with a 30-day money-back guarantee on its first payment: ask within 30 days, for any reason, and you get the full amount back. A renewal you didn't mean to keep can be refunded if you contact us within 30 days of it. The details are in our refund policy.

If you are a consumer in the EU you also have a legal 14-day right of withdrawal from the day you buy. The 30-day guarantee covers that period and more, and we don't ask you to give up your right of withdrawal when you start using the membership.

5. Using the content

The lessons, transcripts, vocabulary lists, quizzes and summaries are ours (© Lingolib). They are for your personal learning only. Please don't copy, share, record, or redistribute them, or use them to train AI systems. YouTube videos you watch through the app belong to their creators; we only display them with YouTube's player and add translations on top.

Words, notes and recordings you add are yours. You give us permission to store and process them so the app can work (for example, to grade your practice). Practice audio is processed to produce feedback and is not kept afterwards.

6. AI features

The AI tutor, speaking feedback and translations are generated by machine learning models. They are usually right and occasionally wrong. They are a learning aid, not a certified translation or language assessment.

7. Availability and changes

We work hard to keep Lingolib up, but we can't promise it will never be interrupted. We may change or improve features over time. If we ever permanently shut Lingolib down, we will tell members in advance and refund the unused part of the year they have paid for.

8. Earlier purchases

Before the yearly membership, Lingolib sold a starter pack and a first year. If you bought one of them:

  • A first year continues as a membership and renews at the price you chose at checkout, under section 3.
  • A starter pack lets you keep Complete Swedish 2 and the Alphabet and Literature courses, with their materials, on lingolib.com for as long as the service operates, as that purchase promised. "Lifetime" or "forever" access meant access for the lifetime of the service.
  • If Lingolib closes or stops offering a course you bought in a starter pack, contact us at adam@lingolib.com from the email address on your account and we will provide a downloadable copy of that course's materials (the lesson videos, transcripts and vocabulary lists) for your own personal use, subject to section 5. It does not include features that need the running service, such as the AI tutor, speaking practice or Watch. Providing this copy fulfils our obligations for that purchase.

9. Liability

To the extent the law allows, our liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have as a consumer under Swedish or EU law.

10. Ending things

You can delete your account from Settings at any time. We may close accounts that break these terms (for example by sharing course content). In that case we refund the unused part of the year you paid for.

11. Law and contact

These terms are governed by Swedish law. If we can't resolve a complaint together, consumers can turn to the National Board for Consumer Disputes (ARN) or the consumer dispute body in their own EU country. Questions: adam@lingolib.com.
