What is on a card
The front shows the Swedish word the way you need to learn it: nouns with en or ett, verbs with att. The back has the meaning, the forms (bilen, bilar, bilarna; äter, åt, ätit), an example sentence with its translation, and two links: the word in our dictionary, and the word said in a real lesson.

Flashcards are half of it
A deck teaches you to recognise words. Using them in sentences is a different skill, and it is the one our course trains: one rule at a time, then you build the sentence out loud before you hear it. The first season is free in full. Start with lesson 1.
Frequently asked questions
How do I import the deck?
On a computer, open Anki and choose File, then Import, and pick the .apkg file (or double-click the file). On Android (AnkiDroid), open the file from your downloads. On iPhone (AnkiMobile), open the file and share it to Anki. The deck appears in your deck list straight away.
Where does the word list come from?
From word frequencies in a large body of modern Swedish text, matched to our open dictionary for meanings, forms and examples. Inflected forms that are very common on their own, like var (was) and gick (went), have their own cards and say which verb they belong to.
Is there audio?
Each card has a play button with the word read aloud, nouns with their en or ett, so you learn the gender by ear. If a card has no sound yet, the link on the back plays the word in a real lesson sentence.
If I download an update, do I lose my progress?
No. Every card has a fixed id, so importing a newer version updates the cards you already have and keeps your review history.
How many new cards a day?
The decks come set to 20 new cards a day, which gets you through 2,000 words in about three and a half months with roughly 15 to 20 minutes of reviews a day. Lower it if reviews pile up.
