Picking up a parcel (Hämta ett paket på ombudet)

Online orders often go to a pickup point inside a supermarket or kiosk. The staff need your code and proof of who you are, and they will ask for both quickly.

Level A1
  1. You

Hej, jag ska hämta ett paket.

Hi, I'm here to pick up a parcel.

"Jag ska hämta" = I'm going to pick up. The usual way to say why you came.

  2. Staff

    Hej! Har du en kod?

Hi! Do you have a code?

  3. You

Ja, jag fick ett sms. Här.

Yes, I got a text. Here.

  4. Staff

Okej, och så behöver jag se legitimation.

Okay, and I need to see ID.

"Legitimation" is often shortened to "leg": "Har du leg?"

  5. You

    Räcker det med BankID?

    Is BankID enough?

  6. Staff

Ja, visa det i appen bara.

Yes, just show it in the app.

  7. Staff

Vänta lite, jag ska bara leta fram det.

Wait a moment, I'll just find it.

  8. Staff

Här. Det var ett stort, det.

    Here. That's a big one.

The extra "det" at the end is spoken style: "that one, it was big".

  9. Staff

    Kan du signera här?

    Can you sign here?

  10. You

    Javisst. Tack så mycket!

    Sure. Thanks a lot!

  11. Staff

    Varsågod, ha en bra dag!

Here you go, have a good day!

Good to know

  • Bring a valid ID or a digital ID. Some carriers also let you pick up with their app instead of a code.
  • To collect a parcel for someone else you usually need their permission in the carrier's app or a written authorisation.
  • Parcels are only kept for a limited time, often around a week or two, then they go back to the sender.
